CELEBRATION OF THE PATRON SAINT OF THE PARISH OF VISITATION OF BVM

Holy Mass at the celebration of the patron saint of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Banja Luka on May 31st was celebrated by the parish priest and economist of the Diocese of Banja Luka, mr. Msgr. Ivica Božinović.

With the parish priest rev. Žarko Vladislav Ošap, seven other priests concelebrated.

In his homily, Msgr. Božinović first referred to the history of the origin of this holiday, which was firstly celebrated by St. Bonaventura in 1263. and introduced it to the Franciscan community, to be extended to the whole Church by Pope Urban VI. a 100 years later. Referring to the evangelical scene of the events of the BVM’s visit to Elizabeth, he called on those present that “these two great women, humble servants of God, be true examples in love of God and neighbour in need”.

The Holy Mass was animated by the parish choir and Blaženka Ivekić.

About 80 believers were present, including representatives from the social and political life of the city of Banja Luka.

The patron saint’s celebration was preceded by a novena. On the eve of the three-day period, May 27th, there was an all-day adoration before the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.
