On the occasion of publishing news on certain web-portals on April 18th, that reported that the cousin and sister of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić converted to Islam, in a statement signed by the head of the Public Relations Office and VN spokesman mr. Rev. Dražen Kustura points out that this is fake news.
A certain Mr. Danko Puljić, who was presented as the Cardinal’s nephew, that is, the son of the Cardinal’s brother, and who changed his religion in Travnik, cardinal Puljić does not know personally and they have only surname in common. In BiH, there are several Puljić lineages and cardinal Vinko does not know that he and the mentioned gentleman are in any kinship, and they are certainly not a close relatives. In the end, the statement points out that it is a disgusting lie that cardinal Puljić’s sister converted to Islam 20 years ago, and appeals to media workers to respect the principles of journalistic ethics and not to publish false, sensationalist and unverified information in public.
