COMMITTEE OF MINISTRY OF CULTURE OF RH VISITED THE RESIDENCE OF BANJA LUKA DIOCESE

On Thursday, April 25th, the bishop of Banja Luka Franjo Komarica, and the residence of the diocese, was visited by multimember committee of the Ministry of culture of RH, that was named by the minister dr.sc. Nina Obuljen Koržinek.

Together with Rašeljka Bilić from the Ministry, in the committee were: the director of Croatian history archive Matea Brstilo Rešetar, deputy of the director of the Archaeological museum Ivan Radman Livaja, professor at the Philosophy faculty in Zagreb Sanja Cvetić, employee of the museum for art and craft Anđela Galić, and Vine Mihaljević from the Institute Ivo Pilar.

Reason for their official visit to the Diocese of Banja Luka is the 150th anniversary of arrival of trappist monks and founding of the monastery – the famous and once the biggest trappist monastery Marija Zvijezda, about which bishop Komarica numerous times reported to the authorities of Croatia, BiH and RS entity.

With bishop were his associates who presented to the members of the Committee the current situation of Catholic church and Croatian people in the area of diocese of Banja Luka, as well as need to save and preserve this legacy of Catholic Church that is left in semi destroyed parishes. They visited the monastery Marija Zvijezda and saw current situation, needs and possibilities of space for museum exhibits of the monastery, and later the diocese as well.

At the end of the meeting, general consul of RH in Banja Luka, academic Zlatko Kramarić, joined them.

The central celebration of this unusual, not only Church but also civilisation jubilee, that is very important for Banja Luka is planned for June 21st and 22nd of this year.
