TWO NOVICES TOOK THEIR FIRST RELIGIOUS VOWS

On the Sunday of Divine Mercy, April 11th, during the Holy Mass in the parish of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sasina near Sanski Most, two novices – sister M. Ivana Pejčin and sister M. Magdalena Pušić took their first religious vows for three years.

The Eucharist was led by the Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica who is also the head of the religious community located in Sasina. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by the parish administrator, venerable Adolf Višaticki and the local son OFM Dujo Ljevar, as well as the parish vicar in Kreševo, OFM Nikola Pejčin, the brother of sister Ivana.

In his homily, the bishop pointed out that “we are all connected by the love of Christ shown on the cross and by his resurrection from this earthly life to eternity”. He added that believers are called to witness to the world and to proclaim the Gospel and the Good News, and especially persons dedicated to God. He addressed the sisters to follow their Fiance and faithfully serve the three gospel advices – purity, poverty and obedience.

The sermon was followed by the rite of taking the first vows for three years. The sisters first said the vows form in front of the head sister, sister M. Miroslava Ljevar, and handed it over to Msgr. Komarica, after which he gave them veils and cloaks.

The parish administrator finally congratulated the sisters and wished them luck in their religious vocation, emphasizing that following Christ is the only way to salvation and eternal happiness.

The Holy Mass celebration was animated by the sisters Missionaries of Charity from Banja Luka.

The ceremony was also attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Banja Luka Zoran Piličić, the Mayor of Sanski Most Faris Hasanbegović and parents, relatives, friends and parishioners of the parishes where the sisters come from.

Sister M. Ivana Pejčin was born in 1997. in Livno, to father Vinko and mother Luce, born Čakarić. She comes from the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Jajce.

Sister M. Magdalena Pušić was born in 1999. in Ljubuški, to father Željko and mother Stojanka, born Lovrić. She comes from the cathedral parish of Mostar.

By the way, the Missionaries of God’s Mercy are a new religious community created by the promptings of the Holy Spirit in the Year of God’s Mercy. There are currently four sisters in the community, led by the head sister M. Miroslava, a native of Sasina, and they also have one novice, sister Anđa Lebo, a native of Posušje.
