PAN-EUROPEAN UNION YOUTH CONFERENCE FROM THREE COUNTRIES

On June 8th, the youth of the Pan-European Union from Germany, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina held the first joint annual conference dealing with current challenges in Europe at the European Centre for Peace and Cooperation in the Marija Zvijezda Meeting House in Banja Luka.

The conference was opened by Christian Hoferer, the chairman of the Pan-European Youth of Germany, and then the Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica held a speech. Among other things, he informed those present about the precious “European tree” created by the Trappist monks of Marija Zvijezda Abbey, giving the region exceptional civilizational, cultural and spiritual values. Then the message of Francis A. Chullikatt, the apostolic nuncio to Bosnia and Herzegovina, was read, in which he supports the determination of young people to build a better future. Among others, the following spoke at the conference: the Secretary General of the International Pan-European Union, Academic Pavo Barišić, and the Consul General of Croatia in Banja Luka, Zoran Piličić.

During the day, a declaration was made in which the representatives of the EU are called to enable the countries in the south of Europe to become full members of the European family as soon as possible.

After the work, a Holy Mass was celebrated in the church led by Bishop Franjo with the concelebration of the parish priest, rev. Zvonko Topić.
