ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF PARISH PRIEST REV. IVAN GRGIĆ

This year, for the 30th time in a row, the martyrdom of the young 32-year-old parish priest of the parish of Ravska near Ljubija, rev. Ivan Grgić, was marked with a prayer.

First, on November 12th, in the parish church in Ravska, the auxiliary bishop of Banja Luka Msgr. Marko Semren, OFM, led the Holy Mass celebration. Eight priests concelebrated, including the parish administrator, rev. Zlatko Matić. Also, a prayer was held at the place of martyrdom of priest Ivan in front of the metal cross, which was prayed by Msgr. Semren.

The next day, November 13th, in the native parish of rev. Grgić in Duboševica, in Baranja, along the Hungarian border, the Eucharist was led by the bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica. Concelebrated by parish priest rev. Danijel Tigandžin, who was also in Ravska the day before.

Msgr. Komarica, in his appropriate sermon, testified that priest Grgić was killed out of hatred for religion, and encouraged the faithful not to forget in their prayers „their most honourable native son, the martyr priest Ivan Grgić”.

After the Holy Mass, those present in the procession came to the bust of rev. Grgić, which was built 10 years ago, where Msgr. Komarica prefaced the appropriate prayers.

Let us remind you, rev. Grgić on the night between November 7th and 8th, 1992, was forcibly taken from the parish house to the edge of his parish and tortured and killed at the Ljubija mine.
